The medieval town of Pals
Pals is a medieval town in Catalonia, northern Spain a few kilometres from the sea in the heart of the Bay of Emporda. Is located on the Costa Brava, to the east of the city of Girona. Situated on top of a hill, overlooking Platja de Pals, this charming town with its cobbled streets, craft shops, traditional restaurants and bars is a great place to visit in Catalonia.

About Pals
Torre de les Hores
Pals has a historic centre on a hill sorrounded by plains with a medieval Romanesque tower built between thw 11th and 13th centuries, known as the Torre de les Hores(Tower of the Hours). A clock tower, it is 49 ft high.

The Gotic Quarter of the town has been substantially restored and there are cobbled streets interrupted by semicircular arches, facades with pointed arched windows and stone balconies. The town wall contains four square towers wich date from the 4th century.
Other sites
The Josep Pla viewpoint, the Plaça Major, the tombs in the Carrer Major and the Romanesque church of Sant Pere are other features of the Town. Ther is an archaeology museum. On the edge of the main town is Masos Pals, which has a thriving urban centre and is popular as a location for holiday homes. Platja(beach) de Pals is also popular holiday location.

Beaches
Playa de Pals is surrounded by rocky headlands, rice fields and a small lake. Moving futher south past some intimate coves are the small up market resorts and beaches of Tamariu and Llafranc.

Playa L´llla Roja is more scluded and Pals beach itself is in a conservation are so no noisy water sport, strictly snorkelling, pedalos and scuba diving are permitted here.
Eating out
Playa de
Pals beach has ample cafes, bars and beachside restaurants; alternatively
travel to nearby Begur, or the old town of Pals for an even greater selection
of eating places where you can enjoy both international and local cuisine.
